Electrical Test and Tag Services
AS/NZS 3760:2010 specifies the generally observed safety inspection and maintenance standards for Australia. This includes the safety inspection testing and tagging of both Single and Multi (240v - 415v) portable electrical equipment, and the machinery that is connected to supply through a flexible cord that is currently in-service, equipment returning to service and equipment that is available for both hire or resale.
Inspection and tests on equipment may range from daily, monthly, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, 2 years and up and in come cases 5 yearly testing schedules, depending on the tests and environment it is in .
Under the Australian standard (AS/NZS3760:2010), the following tests may be required to be conducted on each appliance:
- Visual inspection
- Insulation resistance
- Earth continuity
- Polarity
- Earth leakage
- RCD timed test
The Australian standard requires that the following records be kept, establishing the history of each test conducted:
- Each item has a test tag attached indicating the test date, item, person and company conducting the test, and test result status (pass or fail),
- An asset register and historical record of all test results and items tested
- A record of test results that also includes items that may be faulty and the resulting repair action that is required
- (for RCD units the 6 tripping times are required)
